It is easy to do in browser like google chrome which comes with inbuilt google translator but when it comes to firefox we don't have such translation feature like chrome.   2. From options section in the plugin settings change the translation language according to your need.
  3. Select the text on the webpage that you want to translate.
  4. Right click and hover on To Google Translate option.
  5. In the sub menu open, either select Translate or Listen.
  6. This will open a new tab with the default Google Translator interface.
    You can see your selected text on the left text box and translated text on the right one. You can also change your translation language here.
  7. If you have an updated version of the plugin, you might see a Translate Page option in the context sub menu. This will send the entire page URL to translate.google.com for translation.

Although this plugin does not do anything special on its own, yet it becomes handy to have Google Translate option on right click menu to make things a little faster.

  1. Download and install Simple Translate extension in firefox browser following the above installation process.
  2. Open Simple Translate extension settings by click on the gear icon in toolbar popup.
  3. Set the target language to whichever language you want to translate. You can also customize other options of Simple Translate addon according to your need.
  4. Select the text on any webpage. Either click on the small button with Simple Translate icon or right click to view the Translate Selected text option in context menu.
  5. A small new panel will now open showing the translated text in your target language.

If you want to translate some custom text of your own, you can open up the toolbar popup of by clicking on the Simple Translate icon in widgets toolbar. Type the text you want to translate, and it will automatically get translated into the target language.

If you want to combination of above two translator you can go with ImTranslator. It provide context menu translation option, a toolbar popup, word dictionary and inline translation as well. It also provide text to speech  for translated text. Moreover, You can customize alomost everything in ImTranslator. You can change the color, theme, shortcuts, position of its interface.

  1. Download and Install ImTranslator from Firefox Addon marketplace following the steps above.
  2. Click on ImTranslator toolbar widget to open its popup translator
  3. Click on the gear icon on the top of toolbar popup to open ImTranslator Options.
  4. Once the options tab open, Change the target language to whichever language you want. You can also customize other options to change the look and feel of ImTranslator.
  5. Once done, ImTranslator is now ready,  Just select any text on a webpage and click on the tiny button with ImTranslator icon that appear next to selected text.
  6. It opens a new translator panel where you can see your translated text. You can also change the default translation method in the panel,  or can listen the translated text using text-to-speech.

The best thing about S3.Translator is that is doesnot open a new tab for translating a webpage and secondly it supports automatic translation of Youtube Subtitles. It uses Google translation public api for translation. 

S3.Translator lacks some of the feature of above translator addons like dictionary, translation comparision, and modern look but if you can cope with old fashioned interface this addon can be better choice.

  1. Download and Install S3.Translator addon to Firefor Browser.
  2. Once added, it will automatically open a tab for addon intial setup. Choose the target language and save settings.
  3. After setup, just like other addon you will see a translation button on text selection and context menu options to translate entire webpage.
  4. You can also open translator panel from toolbar popup menu which will let you translate custom text along with the option to hear it using Google TTS api.

How to Translate Webpage in Firefox Manually?

For manual translation we are going to use google translate website which has a wonderful feature for translating the whole page into any language by just providing the URL of the page. So, let's understand the steps for webpage translation

  1. First of all open the webage you want to translate in a tab of firefox browser.
  2. Open a new tab and enter translate.google.com 
  3. Once google translate website get open. Copy the webpage URL from the first tab and paste it into the left input box and hit enter.
  4. Choose the language from the tabs above right text box.
  5. Now, It will show the same url on the right text box. Open this URL in new tab.
  6. When the webpage opens in a new tab it will get translated into your selected language.
  7. From the top bar of Google translate you can instantly translate the webpage into any other language.

So heres it goes a simple way of translating webpage in firefox browser without any additional plugin. Currently Firefox browser does not support automatic translation but no body knows the future, may be future update of firefox may get inbuilt translation feature. Till then we have to rely on these extensions for translation.
