How to Reset Mozilla Firefox in Windows 10?

 


Mozilla Firefox is one of the most used internet browser in the world. At the end of 2021, Firefox has 198 million active users. The reason behind this popularity is its simple user interface, lower ram consumption than Google Chrome and vast theme and plugin support. With an updated version of Firefox you will get some useful inbuilt features like Page Pocket, full page Screenshot, Sidebars, Synced Tabs etc. These feature comes very handy while browsing and sharing webpages.

There is no doubt Mozilla Firefox is a wonderful browser. But, sometimes we encounter few bugs and crashes due to new updates, incompatible themes, plugins and extensions. If you are one of the user of Mozilla Firefox browser, you might have encountered this type of problem with Firefox browser before. 

There are two fixes to this issue, Either you find out the buggy theme, plugin and configuration that causing the issue and uninstall it, or you reset your Firefox browser completely. In this blog post, we are going to implement the second way, i.e., resetting your Firefox browser. Resetting Firefox means you bring your Firefox browser to it's initial state when you have first installed it in your PC. If you are ok with that, let's learn how to do it.

Steps to Reset Firefox Browser in Windows 10:

  1. Open your Firefox Browser by double-clicking on the icon.

  2.  Click on the hamburger menu (three parallel lines) on the very top right corner to open the context menu of Firefox browser.

  3. Click on Help to open a submenu inside Help.

  4. In the submenu just opened, click on More troubleshoot information.

  5. A new Troubleshoot Information tab will open now. On the right side you will see a troubleshooting panel with three options, Refresh Firefox, Troubleshoot mode, and Clear Startup Cache.

  6. Click on Refresh Firefox button. This will open a prompt to confirm refresh operation.

  7. Click on Refresh Firefox button on prompt. Your Firefox will close now and reset all your browser preferences, add-ons, themes etc. and restart in its default state.

After reset, you will have a fresh new Firefox browser with no customization. If you had facing some issue before, it might have gone now. Resetting Firefox is a critical operation, and it is recommended syncing all your Firefox bookmarks, pages and saved passwords before you reset your Firefox browser completely.
